Things to Do at Salford Quays

Salford Quays is the perfect location to wind down after a hard day’s work, and is a great place to spend a chilled weekend. Enjoy the area’s wide variety of restaurants, cafes and bars. Or, why not treat yourself at Quayside – one of the UK’s biggest and best outlet malls? 

Quayside also hosts a number of leisure activities, from a Vue cinema to a Virgin Active Gym, sporting facilities and Salford Watersports Centre, just outside.

Alternatively, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area including The Lowry art gallery and the Imperial War Museum. Leaving the Quays, Salford’s Grade 1 listed Tudor manor house, Ordsall Hall, is another great cultural offering on your doorstep.

Areas Around Salford Quays

Salford Quays is an area of the city of Salford. Nearby, you’ll find areas such as Eccles, Swinton, Pendlebury, Walkden and Irlam. Trafford is also nearby, hosting Old Trafford football stadium and the huge Trafford shopping centre. Meanwhile, the centre of Manchester is only 30-40 minutes away via public transport.

Public Transport Around Salford Quays

Salford is incredibly well-connected by public transport. Choose from bus, train or tram to easily get around the area.

There is a huge bus network around Greater Manchester that starts early in the morning and finishes late at night. The routes are fairly reliable and offer an affordable way to get around. Single tickets are £2 and all-day passes are £5. 

There is also an extensive tram network around Greater Manchester that runs between 6am and midnight during the week, and until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. Ticket prices are determined by zones, but a single ticket will usually cost around £1.40. A day pass for all zones costs around £2.70.

If you prefer to travel by train, there are also a large number of train stations around Salford and Greater Manchester. Salford Crescent will take you to places such as Manchester, Leeds, Blackpool and Manchester Airport. Salford Central is served by trains to Manchester Victoria and onwards towards Rochdale and Wigan.
