2023 is going to be a great year. For you, for me and for everyone that Plumlife Move works with – I’m sure of it.

At the end of last year we launched a branch and customer hub for Plumlife Move, our Shared Ownership resale agency (read more here!), but 2023 will be the year we take this concept even further, helping more Shared Ownership housing providers and their tenants than ever before.

With changing affordability requirements, the introduction of the ‘Right to Shared Ownership’ and the latest Shared Ownership campaign being run by Keaze, I can confidently say that Shared Ownership is becoming more popular than ever before.

However, with increasing popularity comes myths. I understand why they arise and the Plumlife team are always happy to bat them away with truths. One of the biggest myths that needs busting is that ‘Shared Ownership properties are hard to resell’. When actually, the opposite is true.

I’m proud to say that throughout 2023, our new venture of Plumlife Move will be making this process of Shared Ownership reselling even easier. With a resale service that Shared Owners can tap into, or that Shared Ownership housing providers can recommend to their customers, we’re going to help improve the Shared Ownership cycle and get rid of this myth forever.

How will Plumlife Move help?

Our team of experts will help people sell their Shared Ownership homes with a hassle-free experience, while also doing our best to keep sold Shared Ownership homes within the ecosystem, so that they benefit someone else looking for a step onto the property ladder.

Not only will Plumlife Move resell Shared Ownership properties on behalf of Plumlife Homes’ customers, but also for anyone else who is looking to sell their Shared Ownership home. While the initially focus has been on the North West and Yorkshire based customers, Plumlife Move’s services will be offered further afield in 2023 too!

Unlike most high-street sales agents who deal with all manner of property sales, our friendly Plumlife Move team specialise in Shared Ownership. As part of the wider Plumlife operation, the team already sell hundreds of Shared Ownership homes a year, meaning they understand all of the nuances around this scheme, and we also know lots of soon-to-be Shared Ownership homeowners, who are ready to take their next step.

There’s a real need for Shared Ownership resellers to have more choice and Plumlife Move will give homeowners, regardless of where they bought their home, a specialist estate agent built to serve their unique needs. We hope this solution will help more Shared Ownership housing providers too, who need a reputable organisation to best assist their own Shared Ownership residents.

A quick guide to Shared Ownership resale

Don’t know much about Shared Ownership resale? Well you’ve done a great job getting this far through my blog, and let me give you a very quick overview!

The main point you need to takeaway is, someone can sell their Shared Ownership home at any time.
If a person does not own 100% of their home, they must tell their landlord when they want to sell their home. This gives the landlord the opportunity to find a buyer for their share within a particular period of time. This is one of the points in the resale journey that I look forward to working with housing providers on, because we’ll be able to best help their customers!

If the landlord does not find a buyer within the nomination period, residents can sell their share themselves on the open market. This is one of the points in the resale journey that I look forward to working with homeowners on, because we can offer a unique experience that takes into consideration all of the Shared Ownership nuances – something that most high-street agents can’t help with.

What can you expect from Plumlife Move this year and how can we help YOU?

Following the launch of our Shared Ownership resale branch, we’re looking forward to ensuring the space a bustling customer centric hub that puts customers first. Throughout 2023, we will also tell the story of how easy and simple it can be to move on from your Shared Ownership home and put it on the map.

• Housing organisations that refer us as their choice of Shared Ownership sales partner, will offer their residents a trustworthy top-tier service at no cost to the business.

• Homeowners that work with us will get an expert Shared Ownership service and can be easily connected to other specialist partners, whether residents need help with finding mortgage advice, solicitors or something else – Plumlife Move work with other Shared Ownership experts who can help with every aspect of the journey.

• It’s likely that those selling a Shared Ownership home will save money when using Plumlife Move, compared to a typical high-street agent.

• As a profit-for-purpose offering, any profit we make goes back into helping the communities around the areas of the homes that we sell. This way, customers can truly feel good by working with Plumlife Move, and organisations can use their work with us as part of their own CSR strategy.

If you’ve read to the very end of this blog then thank you. I look forward to taking you on the Plumlife Move journey throughout 2023, and beyond.
